WRITING WORKSHOP EXAMPLES

  • This workshop addresses everyone’s right to engage in creativity. Participants will be guided through an explanation of their own fifth brains (muse/intuition), leading us to the material in their imaginations. Through guided prompts, participants will embrace access to their material and find out what obstructs their creativity. Participants can respond in any genre and beginners are welcome.

  • This workshop addresses the inherent value of creative work for activists. Participants will be guided to examine their personal knowledge banks and histories and generate writing based on specific moments that shaped their values. Together, the group will examine symbols buried in the work and there will be time for optional sharing. Participants can respond in any genre and beginners are welcome.

  • This workshop harnesses the inherent value of memory and imagination for spiritual leadership. Participants will bring concepts they want to address. Next, the workshop will move into personal knowledge banks and histories, trusting guided methods to find stories that will illustrate these concepts. Guided prompts will develop connections and texture for sermon preparation, lectures, pastoral messages, and meditations.

  • This workshop uncovers the writer’s biggest fears as a starting place for writing. Each human has rational and irrational fears about life, writing, bodies, the future, etc. Through generative exercises, sharing, wincing, and laughing, this workshop will lead to a better understanding of each participant’s fears and generative new material. (Participants can respond in any genre and beginners are welcome.)
